Be the Spark!

If you want to know the true power of teen girls, look no further than the Miami Country Day Girl Up Club. Its members raised $8,800 to support adolescent girls in developing countries through multiple fundraising initiatives: They made and sold bracelets, hosted a fall bake-off, and even coordinated a spring fashion and art show, which attracted more than 250 people.

Not only does this awesome club band together to raise money, they also spread the word about girls’ issues.

This year, Miami Country Day Girl Up held an educational assembly for their entire school and got 300 high school students to write letters to Malala. Their efforts helped to recruit 30 new club members.

This club is also leading the Florida Regional Club Coalition’s “Zumba Coalition” event during the 11 Days of Action campaign. No wonder they are the winners of the 2012-2013 Club Fundraising Challenge!

Girl Up Champion

Ivanka Trump

Jewelry can make a statement, but Ivanka Trump hopes it can mean more than that to girls around the world. Through her company Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry, she infuses social good into her jewelry, designing a chic bracelet to benefit Girl Up. The bracelet launched during NY’s Fashion’s Night Out in September 2010 with 100% of net proceeds going to the campaign. The businesswoman understands the potential of girls to change the world through their ideas and charity, saying, “Girls are the new global entrepreneurs and the faces of philanthropy.”
